The FAA is not going to come forward and say, “Hey, we made a mistake and we’re going to make sure that we fix this,”. The companies aren’t going to do it as they all have civil and criminal liability, as do the unions.

Airline pilot, Joshua Yoder of US Freedom Flyers interviewed by Del Bigtree of The Highwire:

I talk to pilots every single day. They’re actually afraid to come forward to the companies or the unions because they’re not receiving support.

When these pilots come forward and they have a medical issue, their long-term disability is a very small fraction of what they actually make when they’re actually flying aircraft.

Pilots are essentially de-incentivised to come forward with these issues. I know of so many cardiac events - people with myocarditis and pericarditis being treated off the books - who actually aren’t telling the FAA and the company, and they’re flying and hoping that it goes away. This is a major safety issue. This is something that the FAA and the companies and the unions need to address head-on and they’re not doing it.

I have had personal meetings with the unions and the airlines and there is no appetite to go after this because they are admitting civil and criminal liability.
